Of course, you have to think carefully about making blog investments. You don’t just invest in something and you want to see something in return. In this blog post, I tell you all the blog investments you need to make to improve your blog. From a domain name to useful social media tools.
Domain name
A domain name is really a must for bloggers. It gives a professional look to your website and people are more inclined to click through to your website. Let’s compare two different URLs with each other. Blog A has a URL like … wordpress.com and blog B has a blog which just ends with .com. Blog B has a more professional URL and therefore people click through to your website much faster.
We haven’t talked about companies yet. We as bloggers have a lot of competitors and that is why it is really a must to be as professional as possible. A .com domain is therefore much more professional and if a company had to choose between blog A and blog B, that company would definitely choose blog B because it simply had a much more professional look. It shows that you are willing to put money and effort into your blog and it also shows that you really take your blog seriously. That .com domain can ultimately be the deciding factor.
A domain name doesn’t have to cost much. I work with wordpress.org for example and that’s why I have bought a hosting at Bluehost. This hosting is really cheap and really good. My website is a lot faster since I have joined this hosting and it doesn’t cost a lot. If you are only looking for a domain name for example, then it is definitely a recommendation to look at Bluehost. At Bluehost, you have domain names starting at $0.99 a month.
Tailwind
Tailwind is really a must for all bloggers. In general, Pinterest is pretty unknown under bloggers and I don’t understand this. It generates so much traffic and more than 70% of my blog traffic is generated by Pinterest.

Blog investments like an email address
An email address like … @ gmail.com is taken much less seriously than an email address like .. @ theblogboss.nl. This shows that everyone really needs a professional email address.
Suppose there are two blogs that are completely the same for a company, except the email address. That company is the blog with a Gmail email address and the other blog with a professional email address. Well, believe me, that company is really going to choose the blog with the professional email address. That choice is made very quickly.

Theme
A theme is, of course, a very nice way to give a professional look to your website. You have free themes, but also paid themes.
Must read: Buying a blog theme. Where do you need to pay attention to?
I definitely recommend looking at a paid theme. By buying a paid theme, you really distinguish yourself from the others. A paid theme doesn’t have to be expensive. You have themes starting at 5 euros. Creative Market, Creative Live and MyThemeShop are really good websites to buy a beautiful theme.
Ebook or product
An ebook or other digital products show that you are an expert. For example, a digital product shows that you have a lot of knowledge (I mean, why would you make a digital product otherwise) and in addition, you also earn a lot of money with it, which you can use for blog investments again.
Later
Just like Tailwind, Later is also a must. Tailwind is for Pinterest and Later is for Instagram.
I notice around me that bloggers find it very difficult to post regularly on Instagram. Honestly, I was one of them. When I found out that you can easily schedule your Instagram posts so that they automatically go online, a world opened up for me. Of course, you still have to be very active on Instagram, but you can save a lot of time by scheduling your posts.

Blog investments like Grammarly
Spelling mistakes are really a no-go when it comes to blogging. When I read a blog full of spelling mistakes, I immediately click away. If your blog is in English, then it is definitely a recommendation to take a look at Grammarly. This program has a free and paid version. The paid version is definitely a recommendation because it shows where your mistakes are and it gives a lot of suggestions on how to solve these errors. Besides that, Grammarly also has a free version and it is definitely a recommendation to take a look at this program.
Yoast
Oh, I really like Yoast. This plugin ensures that my SEO is complete. This way you can optimize your blog posts with Yoast. With this program, you can indicate a focus keyword and then the plugin shows what you can do to rank higher on Google.
WPML
I always get the question of how I made my blog bilingual. Well, I have fixed this with WPML. This is a program which turns your blog into a bilingual blog.
It is definitely a recommendation to take a look at writing your blog in another language. With a bilingual blog, you can reach a lot more people and you can also work together with all kinds of great international companies. So if you love writing in English or another language then it is definitely a recommendation to blog bilingual.

Awesome post, Celine. My biggest take away from this is probably the professional email address bit, I haven’t quite gotten to that. Thank you!!
You definitely should own a professional email address!
