SEO is an important part of your blog and you must therefore ensure that your SEO is as good as possible. I often see bloggers make mistakes that you can actually prevent very easily. Today I write about the most common SEO mistakes that lower your Google ranking. These are mistakes that are made quickly, but which you can easily prevent!
What is SEO?
SEO is an abbreviation for Search Engine Optimization. SEO is how Google ranks your blog and how high you are in the search results. Many factors play a role here, such as different search terms that you can use, how informative your blog post is, whether your website is mobile-friendly and whether you use correct links in your blog posts. One thing is certain: if you rank high in Google, you will get more visitors to your blog.

Not using Google Search Console
Google Search Console is a free tool to improve your SEO. It shows how the performance of your website is and what things you can improve.
When I first signed up for Google Search Console, I received regular emails that there were things I could improve to get higher in the search results. Handy of course, because without Google Search Console I would never have discovered these problems.

Not using long keywords
Long keywords are really important. For example, I ensure that my keyword consists of three to four words. Five is just a bit too much, but four is actually perfect. For this article I used the keyword ‘Most common SEO mistakes’. For example, if I had only used the keyword “SEO” or “errors,” there would be so many more competition for my Google rank. So use longer keywords, because then you might have less competition.

SEO mistakes: missing Yoast SEO on your blog
Believe me, Yoast SEO is the plugin you need to have. This plugin analyses your posts and tells you how you can improve the post. Make sure all points are green, because then you have a higher chance to get higher in the Google rankings. For example, I often forget my meta description, but then Yoast SEO tells me what I need to add. Handy!
