Every blogger needs to keep up with the rules. You are not allowed to share everything on your blog. There are a lot of rules for bloggers which a blogger needs to obey. I make it easier for you. In this article, I have made a list with all the rules.
Rules for bloggers
Did you know you can’t just use pictures of other people on your blog? If you have made the picture yourself, then you can use it whenever and where you want. Make sure you don’t copy someone’s else picture. This counts as a violation of rights as well. If you use a picture of someone else, then make sure you have asked permission for this, before you use the picture. In most cases, you can use the picture for free, if you use the name of the photographer. If you post an article of the picture itself, for example, what you can see on the picture, then you are allowed to use this picture without permission. Just make sure you use the name of the photographer.
Rights of others
You are not allowed to violate the rights of others of course. Is your blog post meant to be funny, then this is kind of allowed. If the blog post is meant to hurt someone, then this is not allowed. Also, pay attention to the feelings of the person where you are talking about. Rights or not, everyone needs to respect each other.
Linking to other websites
Did you know you are not allowed to link to every website? For example, you are allowed to link to your nice blog friend or just to show your favorite blogs. Linking to illegal content is not allowed. Also if the work of someone is not public, then you can’t link to this website as well. If the website is public, then you are allowed to link to this. Also make sure you don’t just embed pictures, videos or other content in your post.
Adverts, like advertorials and reviews
I am not going to talk about do follow links again because I am pretty much done with that discussion. Some people use do follow links, some don’t and I don’t want to talk about it anymore. When you write an advertorial or a review in cooperation with a company it is important to put in the text or on the bottom of the article that you have written this article in cooperation with that company. Also, you need to mention your collaboration on social media, if you promote it on Instagram for example. I always use a picture to show that an article is a collaboration.
Citing text
Everyone comes across handy, interesting or beautiful texts on the internet. Unfortunately, you can’t cite this text on your blog. Don’t forget to refer to the original writer of the text. Also, make sure your article is bigger than the piece you have cited.
