Choosing a web hosting is anything but easy. You really have to pay attention to a lot of things, such as disk space, traffic and much more. Are you looking for a new web hosting? Then you should definitely read this post to learn more about what to look out for.
What is web hosting?
I assume that most of you know what web hosting is, but I will explain it anyway. Web hosting is a space for storing information, images and other content. Every website has a server, this server hosts your website and thus ensures that it remains in the air. For example, you have blog platforms such as Yoors and Blogger and you don’t need web hosting for that. However, there are a lot of drawbacks to these platforms.

If you want to blog on, for example, WordPress.org, then you need a web hosting. Without this web hosting, you can’t blog on WordPress.org.
What should you pay attention to when buying a hosting plan?
The size of your hosting plan
It is first important to look at the size of your hosting plan. Of course, you do not want to have a plan which is too small or pay too much for the hosting plan. When choosing a hosting plan you should pay particular attention to the expected data usage of your website and the required disk space.
I use my own web hosting, called Bluehost as an example. This is a very nice web hosting and I am super happy with it. Definitely read my article about the best hosting for bloggers.
Disk space
The disk space is the number of MB or GB that you have available. Here are the files, e-mails and all data from your database. It is therefore very important that you have enough disk space because otherwise, you hit your limit.
Traffic
The traffic is the amount of data that is exchanged between the server that your website is running on and the computer of a visitor. Actually, a simple rule applies: the more visitors you have on your website, the more data traffic takes place.
Ask the hosting!
I recommend asking your (future) web hosting. I did this when I switched to Bluehost. At first, I had some doubts about this because I thought that Bluehost would simply recommend the largest (and therefore most expensive) plan, but this was not the case! Bluehost advised me to take the plus plan. This would be more than enough to keep my website run smoothly.
What should you look for when choosing a web hosting provider?
24/7 support
Believe me, this is really important. Imagine, your website just goes offline and you don’t have support. Well, then your website will be offline for a while. When I had destroyed my website, I got a message from my web hosting within one minute how I could solve this. I call that fast!
Easily accessible
By this I mean not only accessible via mail, but also via social media and even WhatsApp. My previous web hosting was only accessible via mail and I only got a response within a few days. Well, if your website is offline, then this is a long time. Personally, I find it best to message my web hosting on WhatsApp. They respond so quickly there!
Services included
What exactly is included? Do you get free SSL? An online backup? Free support or do you have to pay for this? These are all things that you should really pay attention to. It is recommended to look at free SSL. This is a must in the blog world and you can’t do without. Of course, free support is also very useful. I make my own backups myself so I don’t need an online backup but suppose you can’t back up your website yourself, this is of course very useful! So make a list for yourself what is really a must for you.
