Everyone wants more visitors on their website or blog. If you use Google Analytics, you can see that visitors often come from a number of different sources, such as social media, direct traffic, via referral links or via organic search. The traffic you receive via organic search always comes from search engines. What is SEO? In this blog, I will tell you more about the term SEO and I will give you 10 tips on how to optimize your blog.
What is SEO?
Before I give you some tips. I would like to explain the term SEO. What is SEO? The term SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization or optimizing websites for people using search engines. Someone who has a search engine such as Google always uses search terms or keywords to find what that person is looking for.

With these tips, you will increase your traffic from search engines!
Download Yoast SEO!
If you are using WordPress, there are useful plugins that you can use to improve your SEO. For example, you can use the free version of Yoast SEO. This plugin analyzes your text to the keyword you have indicated. The plugin gives a score to your article by means of green, orange and red dots. Are all balls green? Then your article is easier to find for search engines!
Use smart keywords
It may seem like a difficult job to focus on certain keywords. It is therefore important to know well what your article is about, or on which question your article answers. Think carefully under which keywords you want your article to be found.
Do you still find it difficult to find the right keyword? Use the search function of, for example, Google. Type the keyword you have in mind and look at the results. Sometimes there are surprising tips to focus on. Also, think about what you would type yourself if you searched for the information from your article. At a given moment you become useful in it!
A catchy title is THE KEY!
Most people immediately click on one of the first three options in Google. Yet it is important to have a good strong title that describes your article or page well. Also, make sure your keyword is back in your title! Celine previously wrote a blog with very good tips to write strong and catchy titles to increase your traffic.
Make use of heads and subheadings
The use of heads and subheadings has multiple functions. First, it makes an article clear, readable and interesting. An internet reader is a scroller and looks for information that he or she finds really interesting. A stimulating head or headline can appeal to the reader to read the piece or even better to read the entire article.
In addition, there is another function. Search engines like Google also find heads and intermediate heads very nice. If you use the right keyword in your headlines you give the search engines extra focus on the article. And Google really likes that!
SEO title and a Meta description; is that really necessary?
Every beginning blogger and sometimes even experienced bloggers often forget to add a custom SEO title or meta description. But what is it really? If you use the Yoast SEO plugin, you can easily adjust this. The SEO title is a title of your article or page that is displayed in Google. This title can make you different from the original title, but make sure that there is an overlap.
A meta description is a short description of a maximum of 160 characters that briefly summarizes your article. Be sure to include as many interesting keywords as possible in your meta description. The ‘main’ keyword is used in the SEO title and the meta description.
Don’t underestimate your images!
You know that good photos are very important for the look of your pages and blogs. In addition, they also have a function for search engines. Provided you use them optimally. You can add so-called ‘alt attributes’ to all images. If you click on the image in WordPress, you will see ‘Attribute image title’. Here you enter the keyword!
Don’t focus too much at search engines!
Search engines love inbound links to your website. Google uses hundreds of criteria to determine your position in the search engine. A website with a lot of traffic is just incredibly interesting for search engines and Google really likes that. Visitors who enter via platforms such as Facebook and Pinterest measure search engines, such as Google as traffic.

Do not test the patience of your visitor
Your visitor likes speed and does not want to wait too long for the information on your website. The ideal charging time is a maximum of 1.5 seconds. And yes, that is pretty fast.
A good dose of patience ..
Search engines are sometimes just terrible. You can still do your best to optimally optimize your website and make your complete article SEO-proof. The chance is still present, that your traffic only slowly grows from search engines. It also requires a lot of patience. Stay motivated and continue to write strong content.
